President Mahama Appeals for Mercy for Convicted Hunter

Mahama Appeals for Mercy for Hunter Jailed for Illegal Hunting

President John Dramani Mahama has reportedly appealed for mercy on behalf of a hunter who was recently sentenced to three years in prison for illegal hunting activities in the Ankasa Conservation Area.

The hunter was convicted after being found guilty of hunting animals within the protected forest reserve, an offense that violates Ghana’s wildlife protection laws.

In his appeal, Mahama acknowledged the importance of enforcing laws that protect wildlife and preserve Ghana’s natural resources. However, he urged authorities to consider showing compassion in the case.

He respectfully appealed for justice to be tempered with mercy, highlighting the need to balance law enforcement with humanitarian considerations.

The Ankasa Conservation Area, located in Ghana’s Western Region, is one of the country’s most important biodiversity reserves and is protected to safeguard wildlife and natural habitats.
