Awudu Mahama: NPP Mismanaged Cocoa Sector, NDC Must Fix It
Managing Editor of the Custodian Newspaper, Awudu Mahama, has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) mismanaged Ghana’s cocoa sector, contributing to its electoral defeat.
Speaking on the state of the industry, Mahama argued that challenges within the cocoa sector played a significant role in voter dissatisfaction. According to him, concerns over pricing, management decisions, and overall performance of the sector affected public confidence in the previous administration.
He noted that with the change in government, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) now has the responsibility to address the issues and restore stability and growth to the cocoa industry.
The cocoa sector remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s economy, providing livelihoods for thousands of farmers and contributing significantly to export revenue. As such, any concerns about its management often carry major political and economic implications.
Mahama’s comments add to ongoing debates about governance, accountability, and the future direction of Ghana’s agricultural and export sectors.
