Mahama Highlights Strength of Ghana’s Democracy
President John Dramani Mahama has praised the resilience of Ghana’s democratic system, emphasizing the country’s ability to maintain peace and stability despite political competition.
According to the President, Ghana’s democracy has endured because citizens and political actors have learned to compete politically without resorting to destructive behavior. He noted that while disagreements are a natural part of democratic governance, they must be expressed without hatred or hostility.
Mahama stressed that the peaceful transfer of power between governments over the years demonstrates the political maturity and wisdom of the Ghanaian people.
“Our democracy has endured because we have learnt to compete without destroying, to disagree without hatred, and to transfer power peacefully,” he stated.
He added that these democratic values continue to strengthen the nation’s institutions and serve as a positive example for other countries on the African continent.
