Former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bice Osei Kuffour, popularly known as Obour, has criticized the government over the reported reduction in cocoa prices paid to farmers.
According to Obour, the decision to reduce the price from GH¢3,625 to GH¢2,587 is unfair to cocoa farmers who depend heavily on the crop for their livelihood. He argued that the move could place additional financial pressure on farmers already struggling with rising production costs and economic challenges.
He expressed concern that such a reduction may discourage cocoa production and negatively affect the agricultural sector, which remains a key contributor to Ghana’s economy.
Obour therefore called on authorities to reconsider the decision and prioritize policies that protect the welfare and economic stability of cocoa farmers across the country.
