MINORITY PETITIONS OSP, CID, AND CHRAJ OVER GOLDBOD OFFICE RENOVATION CONTRACT

The Minority Caucus in Parliament has petitioned key state investigative bodies to probe a controversial contract awarded for the renovation of the old Bank of Ghana office.

The petition has been submitted to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ). The move targets a contract awarded by the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), led by its CEO Sammy Gyamfi.

According to the Minority, the contract—reportedly awarded to Deputy Chief of Staff Stan Dogbe—is riddled with irregularities and may have breached established procurement procedures. They argue that the circumstances surrounding the award raise serious concerns about transparency and accountability.

Speaking to the press, Member of Parliament for Odotobri, Anthony Mmieh, emphasized the need for a thorough investigation. He stated that the petition seeks to ensure that due process was followed and that any wrongdoing is addressed.

“We presented petitions to these three agencies to conduct an immediate investigation into the contract awarded by the Gold Board. We believe there were several irregularities, and the laws governing procurement were not followed,” he said.

He further warned that the contract could potentially lead to financial loss for the state, stressing the importance of swift action by the relevant authorities.

“The law must take its course if any wrongdoing is established. We expect these institutions to act promptly to uncover the facts,” he added.

Mr. Mmieh also revealed that all three investigative bodies have acknowledged receipt of the petition. The Minority is now urging them to begin investigations without delay to ensure transparency and accountability in the matter.
