Nitiwul Links Burkina Faso Attack on Ghanaian Tomato Traders to “Glorification” of Leader
Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has suggested that Ghana’s perceived glorification of Burkina Faso’s military leader may have contributed to the recent terrorist attack on Ghanaian tomato traders in the northern part of Burkina Faso.
The attack, which occurred near Titao, reportedly targeted a truck carrying Ghanaian traders engaged in cross-border commerce. The incident has sparked national concern, with government officials confirming that diplomatic efforts are underway to gather details and support affected families.
Commenting on the development, Nitiwul argued that Ghana’s posture and public admiration for Burkina Faso’s leadership may have created unintended consequences, potentially influencing tensions that led to the assault.
Meanwhile, Ghanaian authorities continue to liaise with their Burkinabé counterparts to investigate the attack and ensure the safety of citizens operating within the volatile Sahel region.
