The Accra High Court has delivered its ruling in the high-profile divorce case involving businessman RNAQ and his ex-wife, Joana Quaye, outlining a detailed settlement package.
Although Joana Quaye initially sought GHC50 million, the court awarded her a lump sum of GHC300,000, alongside several other provisions aimed at ensuring the welfare of their children and her living conditions.
As part of the ruling, Joana Quaye has been granted full custody of their three children, while RNAQ is entitled to visitation rights on alternate weekends and during school vacations.
The court also directed RNAQ to take full responsibility for the children’s education and healthcare, including payment of school fees and medical expenses. In addition, he is to provide a monthly upkeep allowance of GHC5,000, which may be reviewed over time.
In terms of property, Joana Quaye has been awarded one-third of their matrimonial home in Dansoman, Accra, specifically three bedrooms, with shared access to common areas such as the kitchen and living spaces.
She also receives two vehicles as part of the settlement—a 2010 Jaguar XF and a 2018 Jaguar Prestige XF.
Delivering the ruling, Justice Kofi Dorgu emphasized that financial claims in divorce cases must be reasonable and well-grounded, a statement that appears to address the significant difference between the amount sought and what was ultimately awarded.
The case has drawn public attention, with many following closely as the court sought to balance fairness, responsibility, and the best interests of the children involved.
