Russia Assures Ghana of Cooperation in Alleged Cybercrime Case
Russian authorities have assured Ghana of their willingness to cooperate in tracking an alleged cybercriminal connected to the circulation of intimate videos involving Ghanaian women.
The case, which has generated significant public reaction across social media platforms, is currently under investigation by Ghana’s Cyber Security Authority (CSA). Ghanaian officials have engaged the Russian Embassy to seek support in identifying and locating the suspect as part of ongoing efforts to ensure accountability.
While legal and diplomatic processes such as extradition may present challenges, Russia’s pledge of cooperation is seen as a positive development in the investigation. Authorities in Ghana have reiterated that the non-consensual recording and distribution of intimate content is a criminal offence under the country’s Cybersecurity Act.
Investigations remain ongoing as both countries explore appropriate legal and diplomatic measures to address the situation.
