President Mahama Directs Assemblies to Complete All Abandoned Projects Nationwide

President John Dramani Mahama has directed all District, Municipal, and Metropolitan Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country to prioritize and complete abandoned projects within their jurisdictions.

The directive, issued on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, forms part of efforts to ensure that public resources invested in infrastructure and development initiatives do not go to waste.

According to the President, unfinished projects have long stalled development in many communities, denying residents access to essential facilities such as schools, health centres, roads, and markets. He emphasized the need for assemblies to assess the status of all abandoned works and take immediate steps to bring them to completion.

The move is expected to improve service delivery, promote accountability, and accelerate local development nationwide.

Further details on implementation timelines and monitoring mechanisms are anticipated as the directive takes effect.
