127 Ambulances Grounded as Only 191 of 318 Fleet Remain Operational – National Ambulance Service

The National Ambulance Service has disclosed that only 191 out of its current fleet of 318 ambulances are operational, leaving 127 vehicles grounded.

The revelation raises concerns about the country’s emergency response capacity, particularly in critical medical situations where timely intervention is crucial. With more than a third of the fleet out of service, pressure is expected to mount on the functioning ambulances and personnel across various regions.

While specific reasons for the grounded vehicles were not immediately detailed, issues such as maintenance challenges, mechanical faults, and resource constraints are often cited as contributing factors in similar situations.

The development is likely to prompt calls for urgent intervention to restore the non-operational ambulances and strengthen Ghana’s emergency healthcare system to ensure rapid response and improved service delivery nationwide.
