The immediate maternal family of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba has filed a suit at the Accra High Court to stop the release of his body and halt all ongoing funeral arrangements.
The plaintiffs — Obaapanyin Afia Adomah Pakoso, Robert Gyamfi, Georgina Gyamfi, Ernestina Fosuh, and Nana Afia Kobi Pakoso — say no one should receive Daddy Lumba’s body from Transitions Funeral Home without their consent.
They are also asking the court to freeze the Daddy Lumba Memorial Foundation account at CAL Bank, remove the current signatories, and replace them with individuals chosen by the family.
The family further seeks a perpetual injunction preventing anyone from organizing or participating in the musician’s final funeral rites without their approval.
The legal action comes ahead of the planned burial on December 13, raising concerns that the funeral may be postponed depending on the court’s ruling.
